My 29-year-old sister has the Tumblr of an emotionally unstable 12-year-old girl. Homework is haaaaaaaard! I'll be alone and miserable foreeeeeever! Manga! Instagram! Boys! Boys! Boys! Emo self portraits! Gotye lyrics! Boys!
Someone really needs to get a grip.

What bugs me about that Gotye song is that nobody* seems to get that the dude is, for lack of a better phrase, an unreliable narrator. Like, I assume you're supposed to realize that he is protesting too much about his indifference to her and to dismiss his claims of her poor post-breakup treatment of him once you hear the girl sing about how crappily her treated her while they were together. But everyone just focuses on the hook.
*at least nobody posting about it in my FB feed, so maybe my sample is skewed toward the most maudlin and/or idiotic?
Ahem. Sorry. :) And I'm sorry about your sister's creepy tumblr.
But aren't we all unreliable narrators, particularly concerning the circumstances of our own break ups? As the "heroes" of our own stories, aren't we lacking in the necessary distance to put our troubles into perspective? I mean, Homework is hard! I'll be alone and miserable forever! Manga! Instagram! Boys! Boys! Boys! Emo self portraits! Gotye lyrics! Boys! Etc.!
:)
